HFEH Mind will be at Stamford Bridge for the Mind Series

Chelsea shows support for Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow Mind as part of ‘The Mind Series’ of friendly games

·      The Mind Series to raise awareness of mental health issues among millions of fans affected by the pandemic

·      60% of UK adults’ mental health got worse during lockdown

·      Series builds on work already being done by Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind and the Chelsea Foundation

Following the Government’s confirmation that restrictions on large outdoor events have been lifted, Chelsea FC and Mind are delighted to confirm a home fixture at Stamford Bridge against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday 4 August at 7.45pm.

This match will be part of the Mind Series, raising funds for Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, and the respective club foundations, including Chelsea FC Foundation. Tickets go on sale from Wednesday 14 July from the club’s website.

Why has Mind partnered with these clubs?

Demand for Mind’s services, including its local Minds, has increased exponentially during the pandemic, with Mind’s own survey of 16,000 people during the initial lockdown finding that two in three young people (68 per cent) and three in five adults (60 per cent) said their mental health had got worse.

The charity has introduced a variety of on-the-ground services to help local communities such as the Safe Space crisis initiative set up by local branch Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind, which offers in-person support for anyone nearing or experiencing a mental health crisis in those boroughs.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are uniting with Mind to raise vital funds and use their joint global reach and platforms to promote mental health awareness at a time when more people than ever need Mind’s support.

The Mind Series builds on work already being undertaken by the Clubs and their local Minds, like the Chelsea Foundation and Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing & Hounslow Mind. Chelsea Champions is Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind’s latest project with the Chelsea Foundation. Launched during Mental Health Awareness Week, it provides extra-curricular activities and workshops to help schools raise awareness of mental health issues for pupils and parents.

Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing & Hounslow Mind’s CEO, Benn Keaveney said:

‘It’s great to see big clubs coming together and supporting our work in the local community. Football has the power to create real change around mental health.’

This is one of a broad range of prevention and recovery services that Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind delivers to ensure everyone gets the support and respect they need to stay well. To find out more, about their work with partners across Chelsea FC, the NHS, in schools, the workplace, and the wider community visit their website for mental health advice and support.
